We Can Work It Out

This my general idea, so feedback and criticism are definitely welcome.

Through the examples of Lewis Carroll and Richard Adams, it is clear that an author's environment plays a major role in the perspective he takes when writing a novel. Many factors including the author's personality and country of origin play a significant role in the ideas he conveys to his audience.

  1. This sounds like a really fun idea. Country of origin, biographies, world events, and so forth are the kind of things that are fun and fairly simple to research (in my experience). I think it would be fun and interesting to compare Carroll and Adams, and I would personally be really interested to read a paper about that. You could talk about what was going on in the world at the time of their writing to give some context, you could talk about things in their lives that may have influences their style, you could compare similar passages and discuss matching or opposite themes and then tie that back to some personality quirk or trait. I think this sounds great.

  2. I agree with Kate that this is a great idea, however I think that it almost goes without saying that an author's environment plays a major role in their perspective and writing. My advice to you would be to decide what specifically you want to compare and contrast about the two authors and avoid being to broad. Great idea, and good luck!
