Princess Paper Prototype

This one's a kicker. Maybe I was a little too confident about the ideas that I had for this paper because once I started writing them out, none of them made any sense. There are so many holes in this paper, and in my ideas, and in my thesis. I apologize about the rough, swiss-cheeseness (holy- get it?) of this paper, and I am more than open to comments and suggestions.

If you're brave enough, go ahead and take a read:

  1. Don't give up on the idea just yet, you've got this! I read it through and it looks to me like you have a lot of good ideas and you're not sure how to combine them effectively (that might be way off the mark, so you can ignore the rest of this if it is!). I know that's often my problem. I gather all my information and then I feel like I have an armload of things and no idea what to do with them. I would suggest writing down all your little idea chunks about illustrations, the role William Goldman plays in the book and movie, and so forth. And then I would just try to put them in a comprehensive order, so you can tie them together into one overarching idea. And some things might need to be trimmed, I know that happens to me a lot. Focus on the important things and let the little filler details be filler and not take over the paper--I think your paper will be just fine, there aren't any real holes in it, it just needs some cleaning! I hope this helps at all, I'm just listing off the things I like to do with my papers when I'm at this stage. It looks really good!

  2. I agree with Kate! Your paper did not seem all that swiss-cheesey. From what I got from you mini paper, your beginning seemed very focused on the what, rather than the how (which is understandable since its the lead in) but I was most interest in the ideas you had bulleted, the how the visual stuff works. I think you can make a great paper focusing on those how ideas ( I especially really liked the idea of talking about white space in illustration and in the screenplay) and talking about the consequences of the visual aspects like you started to in your last written paragraph

  3. Thanks so much, ladies! This makes me feel way more confident about what I'm doing.
